Cyclooxygenase-2 and Bcl-2 expression in patients with triple-negative breast cancer

Introduction. Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a rare type of associated with lack expression estrogen and progesterone receptors the HER2 protein. It characterized by poor outcome chemotherapy resistance. Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) constitutional enzyme responsible for prostaglandin synthesis, present in neoplastic cells premalignant lesions. The B-cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl-2) protein considered one most potent apoptosis-regulating agents, assuring body homeostasis. Material methods. aim study was to evaluate immunohistochemical (IHC) profile COX-2 Bcl-2 patients suffering from TNBC order obtain more detailed data on additional factors nega­tively influencing outcome. IHC evaluation among 21 women diagnosis performed. Results. common histological subtype invasive ductal no special type. all examined samples moderate strong detected 20 cases. There positive corre­lation between grade (G) (p = 0.002). samples. analysis showed that tumours presenting highly accounted majority cases (57.2%). Conclusions. achieved results might lead conclusion high may be linked tumour aggressiveness overall survival. However, before their consideration as markers used routine examinations grading, it will necessary undertake further studies.
